We created a map with all the necessary locations you need to know to enjoy your stay in Centrale

You'll find a small description of what everything is below

Supermarkets

  • Intermarché
The Intermarché is the closest supermarket from the school and is the most convenient location to go grocery shopping for students. Unfortunately, due to its size there isn't much choice, and it is somewhat expensive.
  • Carrefour
Your other option is going to Carrefour in Les Ulis. You'll need to take the bus (or have a car) to go there, but it is a shopping centre so if you want something not available in Intermaché you will need to go over there.

Restaurants

  • 0'9 Poke
This is a small poke right next to the student housing. The prices are 11,90€ (Small) or 13,90€ (Large), and as a student you get a free drink to go with it.
  • McDonald's
I hope you already know what McDonald's is. Just as a heads up, this one doesn't have much room to sit in and lacks a few items you might be used to if you come from a bigger city.
Also for the culture, the French call it "MacDo".
  • YUCAI Sushi
This is a sushi place your writer admittedly doesn't have much experience with, but it is apparently pretty good. It is expensive however.
  • FO Pizza
A nice pizza place that is pretty affordable and has a fairly wide choice. You will often see groups of students eating here and even teachers. As a student, you also get a discount here with a free drink.

Others

  • Boulangerie
It would be a shame to live in France without trying the pastries wouldn't it ? This is where you'll find them, as well as cakes and OF COURSE "baguettes".
  • Pharmacie du Moulon
This is the only pharmacy around, so it will be your best friend if you ever get sick around here.
  • Le Lumen
The Lumen is the university's library and as such is available to every student. There are rooms available to study in and you can of course borrow books as well.
  • Société Générale (SG)
This is a french bank we have a partnership with, so this is most likely where you'll have your french bank account.

Gyms

There is a gym in Centrale available to the students

  • The one in the school itself
This gym is operated by the BDS, therefore you need to pay your yearly contribution to the BDS to be able to access it (50€ for all 3 years). The timetable for this gym is available here. What you are looking for is "Accès libre" which means free access.
This gym is located in Bouygues, and is a bit hard to find the first time around so don't hesitate to ask someone or to use Campass to navigate the building.

Crous

  • Izly
At the beginning of the year, you will be able to pay for your meals in the Crous by credit card, but that eventually will change to only allow you to pay through Izly. Izly is the main way students pay anything Crous-related (because you don't pay taxes). To use it, you will receive an email detailing the steps to follow.
  • Crous Eiffel
This is the most convenient student restauration spot, in the middle of the Eiffel building of Centrale. It is also the only one that is open for diner. However, this is also the worst one food-wise and you'll see many students opt for one of the other two for lunch.
  • Crous ENS
This one is located in the ENS Paris-Saclay, and is considered the best quality-wise. It is however designed for the ENS students only, so with many Centrale students coming as well it gets cluttered pretty fast.
  • Crous Lieu de Vie
That one is located in the "Lieu de Vie" building and is the furthest away from the school itself though the distance is not that bad. It has the widest choice as it always offers at least three main dishes (assuming you're not late).
